Welcoming Sitz Angus Cattle to the Herd
This video showcases the arrival of Sitz Angus heifers at the ranch, known for their elite genetics and predictable performance. These purebred heifers were carefully selected based on both their physical traits (phenotype) and genetic potential (genotype), ensuring consistency in calving ease, weight gain, and meat quality. The ranch closely tracks 16 genetic traits to optimize herd improvement.
Beyond raising cattle for meat, the ranch also focuses on breeding and genetics. Some of these heifers will eventually be bred to Hereford bulls to produce F1 crosses, while others will continue in purebred Angus breeding programs. Record-keeping is critical in this process, allowing the ranch to monitor individual performance and select the best cattle for future generations. By investing in superior genetics, the ranch enhances the efficiency and value of its herd.
